Orion Funded Review 2026: Award Winner Breakdown

Quick verdict: Orion Funded won our 2025 Best Prop Firm award for good reason, and they are tracking well to defend it in 2026. Five challenge types, MT5 and MatchTrader, an 80% profit split from day one, and a 48-hour payout guarantee with a real penalty if they miss it. The V3 dashboard update adds journaling, analytics, and real-time alerts all in one place. Trustpilot sits at 4.6 from over 1,700 reviews as of July 2026. The main thing to plan around is the 2-minute news restriction window on funded accounts — read the program rules before you pick one.

Orion is currently running a 30% off anniversary promo. Use code V3 at checkout. Excludes Swing, Nova, and Standard $200K accounts.

Orion Funded at a Glance

Orion Funded launched in 2023 and has grown to over 100,000 traders across 160+ countries. The firm is registered as Orion Global FZCO in Dubai Digital Park, Dubai Silicon Oasis, with related entities OGM International LTD in Saint Lucia and OGM Evaluation Limited in Hong Kong. CEO is David Viota.

The firm runs entirely on simulated accounts. All trading happens in a demo environment, and performance rewards are paid out as real money based on simulated profit. That is standard for the prop firm industry and does not affect legitimacy.

The V3 update, launched in 2026 alongside the firm’s third anniversary, brought a rebuilt dashboard with integrated journaling, an economic calendar, real-time metrics, a leaderboard, and an affiliate dashboard. These used to require third-party tools. Now they are built in.

Orion also runs a live trading education channel (Orion Funded TV) with weekday sessions led by head coach Carlos Valverde, who has 16 years of trading experience. That is not standard for most prop firms and adds real value for traders who want structure beyond just the challenge.

Prices for Orion Standard, Swing, Nova, and Zero differ. Check the Orion checkout page for current pricing across all programs. The V3 anniversary code gives 30% off Select accounts.

Orion Nova — Pay After You Pass

Nova is the one to watch if you want minimal upfront cost. You pay EUR 7 (a registration fee) to start. The full activation fee for your funded account is only due after you pass the single-phase evaluation. There is no time limit to complete it. The drawdown uses a trailing lock mechanic, which means it follows your balance up as you profit and then locks at your starting funded balance once your first payout clears.

Orion Zero — Instant Funding

Orion Zero skips the evaluation entirely. You pay a flat fee and start trading funded immediately. There is no profit target, but the 3% daily loss limit and 6% trailing lock drawdown apply from day one. One specific rule: trades opened or closed within 5 minutes of a high-impact news event are rewarded at 50% instead of 80%. If news trading is central to your approach, Orion Swing gives you more room.

Orion Standard — Most Popular

Two phases, both requiring 6% profit, with a 3% daily loss hard limit and 6% static drawdown. The static drawdown means the floor is fixed from the moment you start. On a $100,000 account, the floor sits at $94,000 and stays there no matter how high your balance grows. That is actually more forgiving than a trailing drawdown if you run up profits quickly.

Note on fee model: Orion runs a pay-after-you-pass split model on evaluation challenges. You pay 50% of the fee upfront. The other 50% is only due once you pass and want to activate your funded account. If you fail, you only lose the first half. Orion Zero uses a flat one-time fee with no second payment.

Risk Rules Explained

Orion uses two drawdown mechanics depending on the program. Getting them wrong is the most common way traders lose funded accounts, so read this carefully before picking a program.

Static Drawdown (Standard, Swing, Select)

The drawdown floor is set once, based on your starting account balance, and never moves. On Orion Standard with a $100,000 account, the floor is fixed at $94,000 (6% below start). Even if you grow to $150,000, the floor stays at $94,000. This means you can give back profits without the floor chasing you up.

Trailing Lock Drawdown (Zero and Nova)

The floor starts at 6% below your initial balance and follows your balance upward as you profit. Once your first payout is approved, the floor locks permanently at your funded starting balance and never moves again. On Orion Zero with a $100,000 account, the floor starts at $94,000, rises with your equity, then locks at $100,000 after your first payout. There is no more room below the starting balance after that point.

Both programs also apply a 3% safety cushion on funded accounts. The first 3% of profit above your starting balance is held as a buffer before it counts toward a reward request. This protects against the daily loss limit triggering during payout processing.

Daily Loss Limit

The daily loss is measured from your balance at the start of each trading day (end-of-day balance reset). On Orion Standard, the daily limit is 3%. On Orion Swing and Select, it is 5%. On Orion Zero and Nova funded accounts, it is 3%. This is a hard cutout. Breach it and the account closes for that day or is invalidated depending on the phase.

News Trading Rules

During evaluation phases, there are no timing restrictions on individual trades around news events. On funded (Orion Trader) accounts, the rules differ by program:

Program News Trading on Funded Account
Nova, Standard, Select 2-minute restriction window before and after any high-impact event. No opens, closes, modifications, or stop orders during this window.
Swing No restrictions.
Zero Permitted at all times, but trades opened or closed within 5 minutes of a high-impact event earn 50% split instead of 80%.
Important: Using news trading as a strategy (directional bets based on anticipated releases, firing trades systematically before or after events) is prohibited across all programs and phases, including evaluation. This applies whether or not you are inside a restriction window.

Overnight and Weekend Holding

All five programs allow holding positions overnight and over the weekend, in both evaluation and funded phases. No add-on is needed. Orion Swing is the only program with zero news restrictions on funded accounts, making it the best fit for traders who hold through scheduled events.

EAs and Copy Trading

Expert Advisors are permitted. Copy trading and coordinated trading across multiple accounts are explicitly prohibited under Orion’s forbidden trading practices policy. Orion runs risk reviews on accounts flagged for coordinated patterns, and some Trustpilot reviews mention video interviews being required before larger payouts are approved.

Platforms and Instruments

Orion Funded supports MetaTrader 5 (MT5) and MatchTrader across all programs. Neither MT4 nor cTrader is available.

Asset Class Zero / Standard Leverage Lite / Swing / Select Leverage Commission
Forex 1:100 1:30 $4 per lot
Indices 1:50 (Standard) / 1:100 (Zero) 1:15 No commission
Gold (XAUUSD) 1:50 1:9 $4 per lot
Commodities (excl. Gold) 1:10 1:10 $4 per lot
Stocks 1:3.3 1:1 No commission
Crypto 1:3 1:1 No commission
HK50 / US2000 / SPN35 1:30 1:9 No commission

Leverage is preset by program and asset class. Traders cannot adjust it. Orion may change leverage on any account at any time, with notice sent via the client dashboard. Swap-free accounts are not available as a standard option.

Forex scalpers: The $4 per lot commission on Forex applies to Zero and Standard programs. On Lite, Swing, and Select, forex leverage drops to 1:30. If you run a high-frequency forex strategy, verify execution conditions before committing to a specific program.

Payouts and Profit Split

Orion Funded runs on a bi-weekly payout cycle from the funded account (Orion Trader Account). Rewards are based on simulated profit from each 14-day cycle, paid as real money.

Profit Split

All accounts start at an 80% profit split from the first eligible reward request. Once you qualify for the scaling plan, the split increases to 90% and stays there. No other split levels exist between 80% and 90%.

48-Hour Payout Guarantee

If Orion does not process a reward within 48 hours of a valid request, you receive a 100% profit split on that cycle plus a full refund of your original program fee. The site reports an average processing time of under 5 hours. Multiple Trustpilot reviews confirm same-day and next-day processing in practice.

Fee Refund After 4 Payouts

After completing 4 reward payouts from your funded account, Orion returns your original program fee in full. This effectively makes the challenge fee a temporary deposit rather than a cost if you stay funded long enough.

Payment Methods

Orion currently processes rewards via three methods: Credit/Debit Card, PayPal, and Cryptocurrency. These are confirmed from the checkout interface as of July 2026. Available methods can change, so check your client dashboard before your payout window opens to confirm what is available at the time.

One thing to watch: Some Trustpilot reviews mention that first-time payouts above certain amounts may trigger a video interview with Orion’s risk department to verify manual trading. This is a standard risk control practice and has been reported as a straightforward process by most traders who went through it.

Orion Funded Promo Code — V3

Orion’s current anniversary promotion gives 30% off all accounts. No exclusive FT code is available, but their own public code works at checkout.

Scaling Plan

The scaling plan is available on Orion Lite, Standard, and Select funded accounts. Orion Zero is not eligible for scaling.

How to Qualify

Scaling is reviewed every three months. To qualify in a given cycle, you need all three of the following:

  • 15% return in the rolling 3-month period
  • At least 2 of the 3 months must end in positive return
  • At least 3 reward requests completed during the period

If you miss a cycle, there is no permanent disqualification. You can qualify in any future 3-month window.

What Happens When You Qualify

Account balance increases by 25%. Profit split moves from 80% to 90% and stays there. Each subsequent qualifying cycle adds another 25% to the account size. Maximum allocated capital across all accounts is $4,000,000.

Post-scaling profit split90% after first qualifying 3-month cycle

Is Orion Funded Legit?

Orion Funded is legitimate. They have been operating since 2023, have paid over $4 million in trader rewards, and hold a 4.6 Trustpilot rating from over 1,700 reviews as of July 2026. The overwhelming majority of reviews (86%) are 5-star. The firm responds to the majority of negative reviews publicly.

We gave Orion Funded our Best Prop Firm of the Year for 2025, and Best Challenge Prop Trading Firm for 2024. These are not participation awards. The criteria are strict: payout speed, challenge terms, transparency, trader feedback, and platform development. Orion earned both on substance.

In 2026, they have kept the pace. The V3 dashboard launched with built-in journaling, analytics, and an economic calendar. The Nova pay-after-you-pass model addresses one of the most common complaints in the industry — paying full fees upfront and failing. The 48-hour payout guarantee with a real financial penalty for missing it is still rare in this space. Most firms just say they pay fast. Orion put a guarantee in writing.

Will they win again for 2026? Based on what we are seeing mid-year, they are in the conversation. The V3 rollout shows a firm that is still building, not coasting. The country restriction issue and the news window on funded accounts are the main things holding back a perfect score. If those get resolved, the argument gets stronger.

Entity Registration

The parent entity is Orion Global FZCO, registered in Dubai Digital Park, Dubai Silicon Oasis, UAE. Related entities include OGM International LTD in Saint Lucia and OGM Evaluation Limited in Hong Kong. Prop firms are not required to hold a financial regulator license. Orion does not claim to be regulated, and that is not a red flag on its own.

Complaint Patterns to Know

The 1-star reviews on Trustpilot (around 8% of total) follow recognizable patterns. The most common are: payout denied after a claim of third-party involvement or hedging, and rule changes made without sufficient advance notice. Orion’s public responses generally cite specific rule clauses and apply the same standard across all accounts.

One specific issue worth flagging: a Trustpilot review from 2026 mentions that Indonesia was removed from Orion’s supported countries list after the V3 launch, with traders claiming this was done without prior notice. If you are based in a country with restricted access, verify your eligibility before purchasing.

Before you buy: Check the restricted countries list in the client dashboard or email [email protected] to confirm your country is currently supported. This applies especially if you are in Southeast Asia or other regions where prop firm access can change.

Cons

  • 2-minute news restriction window on Nova, Standard, and Select funded accounts
  • Trailing lock drawdown on Zero and Nova tightens significantly after first payout locks the floor
  • No MT4 or cTrader support — MT5 and MatchTrader only
  • Swap-free accounts not available
  • Payment methods not published publicly; must be confirmed in dashboard at payout time
  • First-time payouts above certain amounts may trigger a video verification interview
  • Zero accounts not eligible for scaling plan
  • Country restrictions can change without long advance notice (Indonesia example in 2026)

Best For / Avoid If

Best for Swing traders who hold overnight and through weekends. Traders who want the fastest payouts with a written guarantee behind them. Anyone who values built-in education and an active trading community. Traders who prefer a 3-phase challenge with lower per-phase targets (Orion Select). Traders who want to minimize upfront cost with Nova’s pay-after-you-pass model.
Avoid if You trade exclusively around high-impact news events on funded accounts (the 2-minute window will catch you). You need MT4 or cTrader. You are based in a country that may not be currently supported. You want a flat-fee instant funding model with zero news considerations — other firms may suit better.
